Am I able to get Russian citizenship if I was born before 1992 on the Soviet Union territory which is now Ukraine? Also I currently have American citizenship.
According to the current Russian laws, you are eligible to receive Russian citizenship in an easy and direct way as a person born in the USSR and a Russian native speaker. However, you must renounce all other citizenships prior to applying and you must also live in Russia.
Our agency does not process applications in this situation for obtaining Russian citizenship for adults. If you are interested in this, we highly recommend for you to contact the closest Russian Consulate in the U.S. or Canada for more information regarding this procedure.
Also, there is a toll free number in Russia which you can use to get all the information you need about applying for Russian citizenship: +7 (499) 350 7654. This service works every day from 9am to 11pm Moscow time.
